Congratulations, It's a Boy....

Some women gasped, some cried. The guys were jealous...

Week 1 - Benoni

Wow - seems so long ago now...

Just really chilling for the first week, trying to avoid muggers and the like!! We didn't do too much - went to the Bunny Park to see Bugs and his mates. They all ran away despite the massive bunch of carrots we lugged round;) Sheep & goats were more interested in carrots than the rabbits!!!

Went to Korsmans & had the mother of all soft serve ice creams. It was almost the length of an arm, no joking!! We were almost sick afterwards ;) Evelyn used to want a second of these when she was a kid!!!

Met Ouma, friends, and then had dinner with Ma Braney & boeta (brother) David at Mikes Kitchen (Braney families traditional special occasions resturant) for our first T-Bone steak & of course, Peppermint Caramel Crisp Ice Cream - Yummy ;) Also, went to some of the old haunts - Shooters for pool (Marc won) and News Cafe for Evelyns fave cocktail called "faithful b*tch".

Went to Gold Reef city - basically it's Jo'burgs version of Thrope Park but with much shorter queues. David & Marc went on pretty much everything.... Evelyn watched & took photos & enjoyed hearing the girly screams ;) We went down SA's first gold mine - quite interesting. We went down about 500m - the mine itself is 3200m!! There was still some gold in the rock...

Oh, almost forgot - funny moment of the week goes to David who picked us up from the airport. He parked his car, found us in the terminal, went back to his car except it wasnt there. He definitely parked on the 3rd floor, so we checked it once, then twice. "Now David, you sure its on the 3rd floor, not on the 2nd floor or the 4th floor?" By powers of deduction, it was possibly on the 2nd, so down we went, but no joy. So then down to the 1st, ground, and back to 3rd. 20 minutes later, our search took us to the 4th floor, and low and behold, there it was ;)

BTW - big thanks to David for being our taxi (when found) and also to Craig & Charlene for having us for the week.

Damn Techonolgy

Our 3rd attempt at doing a blog ;) and don't mention email accounts ;)

So 3rd time lucky...

Can't remember what we wrote before but it's somewhere on myspace. There was mention of Marc and Paddy beating the Braney sisters at pool - but we all know that us girls let them win ;D (The Old Thames Inn was a great location)

Went to Belushi's after for a sample of what life will be like for us over the next 7 months. Full of backpackers (some not so friendly - hey Woody :) Things were going well until some idiot bought Tequilla's...

Backpacking from London Bridge Stn to Kate & Woody's was a real challenge and an insight of what's to come, didn't realise how heavy they were!!

Thanks to Woody & Kate for letting us stay round, as we did mess up the place a bit and broke the sink ;) Luckily we got a couple of good nights sleep and there was no chinchilla buggering to be heard.

Finally managed to catch our plane with no liquids in sight and got great seats with plenty leg room although Sister Mary did have flaying elbows (just like dad Braney :) and didn't understand the concept of "headphones mean - you can't hear what people are saying to you" - poor Marc.

Thanks to everyone who's helped us thus far...
